Cisnormativity | Noun | Assuming that cisgender is "normal" and that everyone is cisgender until proven otherwise |
Enby | Noun | Colloquial Term for "Non-Binary Person" derived from the phonetic sound of the initials NB |
Genderfluid | Adjective | An individual whose gender identity shifts over time |
Genderqueer | Adjective | An umbrella term similar to non-binary, but is inclusive to cisgender or trasgender individuals who feel they have a non-normative experience with their gender |
Misgender | Verb | To use incorrect terminology or pronouns while referring to another's gender identity. Can be accidental or purposeful |
NB | Noun | Abbreviated Initials of "Non-Binary", sometimes refers to a "Non-Binary Person" |
Neopronoun | Noun | New pronouns used instead of he, she, or they alternatives |
Non-Binary | Adjective | A gender identity where an individual does not identify with being either a man or a woman |
Pronoun | Noun | A word to refer to someone else, either in the discourse or mentioned. Typically these are the gendered "he" or "she" examples to refer to males or females respectively |
Queer Coding | Verb | To imply using subtext that a character is LGBTQ+ |
Queerbaiting | Noun | The inclusion of characters who are implied to be LGBTQ+, yet this is never confirmed by the text, or is altered to instead confirm the character as cishet without reason. |
Representation | Noun | The portrayal of someone or something in a particular way |
Stereotype | Noun | A widely-held but oversimplified idea about a specific group or thing |
Tokenism | Noun | Adding a diverse character into a text without giving them much development or purpose |
Trans* | Noun | Refering to the whole trans community, as anyone that is not the gender assigned at birth |
Transface | Adjective | Casting a non-trans actor to play a trans character. For Trans women, this often involves lots of makeup to give them a "drag" appearance |
Transgender | Adjective | Someone who's gender identity does not match what they were assigned as at birth |
Visability | Noun | Giving a certain type of person prevelance in a text |
